This is nacho ordinary plate of nachos. Taco Bell will launch Nacho Fries nationwide on Jan. 25 and they’ll cost just $1 for a limited time. Mexican seasoning will spice up the spuds and they’ll be served with a dipping side of the warm Nacho cheese that typically tops tortilla chips . You can also upgrade your Nacho Fries by ordering them “Supreme” for $2.49 or “Bell Grande” for $3.49, topped with extras like beef, pico de gallo and sour cream. (tacobell.com)
* You might be tempted to dip the new Spud Crunchies Potato Snacks from Trader Joe’s in ketchup, but they’ll go better with onion dip. They may be shaped like French fries, but the savory snacks are crispy like potato chips. A lower-temperature cooking technique makes for a crisp outside and airy inside. “These Potato Snacks will remind you of a fresher, lighter, airier take on those coveted, extra-crunchy fries that you’d find at the bottom of your fry carton,” according to the Trader Joe’s site. The grocery chain isn’t the first to offer up fry-shaped crunchy tater treats (UTZ’s Potato Stix are among the others), but it’s probably among the healthier versions. Made from Russet potatoes, expeller pressed canola oil and salt, Spud Crunchies pack 65 milligrams of sodium per serving, compared to the 90 in the Utz version. Grab them for $2 a pouch. The food at Staten Island’s new hotspot comes with a view — make that two. Surf — now open in Stapleton (37 Navy Pier Court) inside the new Urby apartment complex — boasts views of both the Manhattan skyline and the Verrazano Bridge. Visit when it’s dark and ask for a table upstairs to take advantage of the best views of both. The sprawling two-floor waterfront space has an industrial feel with exposed beams and bricks and a cement floor. Huge bars bless each floor and the menu makes use of a BBQ pit and wood-fired ovens. It’s the second Surf location (the other’s in N.J.) from owner Victor Rallo of PBS’s “Eat! Drink! Italy!” Apps include ember roasted baby beets ($15) served with whipped horseradish goat cheese, cava pickled red onion, greens and toasted black sesame seeds; and a charcuterie board ($18) loaded with cured beef, prosciutto di Parma, spicy salami, duck prosciutto, sweet apple ham, grilled bread, house-made mustard, charred onions and pickles. The burger ($16), served with house-made chips, is amazing, and more fancy fare includes the Ora King Salmon ($32), served with fire roasted peppers and green onion, grilled pole beans, shaved fennel, Castlevetrano olives and pink grapefruit.

* Some establishments frown upon customers wearing a hat. Not Refinery Rooftop (63 W. 38th St.) at Refinery Hotel in Midtown West. To mark National Hat Day on Jan. 15 — yeah, that’s a thing — the lounge will slash prices of themed cocktails by 50% on Monday only to anyone who wears a hat. Refinery Hotel has good reason to offer the deal — the industrial chic lodging was once a high-end hatmaking factory. Cocktails on sale include The Fascinator (a fizzy, bitter mix of gin, Aperol, Morello cherry and soda water); and The Fedora (a refreshing blend of mezcal, anise, ginger, tamarind and pineapple). Both will be discounted from $16 to $8 for hat-wearers. While you’re up there, take in views of the Empire State Building.
